Terms of Service
Effective 21 July 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and Northstar Engineering Limited for using Ayah Ink. We’ve kept them plain. By using the app, you agree to them.
Ayah Ink (“the app”) is provided by Northstar Engineering Limited (“we,” “us,” “our”), a company registered in Mauritius. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the app and this website. If you do not agree to them, please don’t use the app.
The service
Ayah Ink is an offline-first Qur’an study workspace for phone, tablet, and web. It bundles the complete Qur’an with tools to handwrite, highlight, annotate, take notes, and organize study across notebooks. Core reading and local study work without an account, a subscription, or a network connection.
Eligibility
The app is intended for general audiences and is not directed at children under 13. If you are using the app on behalf of an organization, you confirm you are authorized to accept these Terms for it.
Your account
An account is optional and is needed only for cloud sync, collaboration, and purchasing Pro. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secure and for activity under your account. You can delete your cloud account at any time from within the app; doing so does not delete the notebooks stored on your device.
Free and Pro
The complete Qur’an and the core study tools are free. Ayah Ink Pro is an optional subscription that removes limits and adds features such as unlimited notebooks and layers, cloud sync, collaboration, guided templates, saved searches, and PDF and layer exports.
- Billing. Pro is offered as a monthly or yearly subscription, purchased and billed through the app store on your device. Prices are shown in the app for your region.
- Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours of the period’s end.
- Managing and cancelling. You manage or cancel your subscription through your app store account settings. We cannot cancel or refund a store subscription on your behalf; refunds are handled under the app store’s policies.
- Account-linked. Pro is linked to your account so it can be restored on your devices. Purchasing Pro requires a free account.
- If you cancel. Cancelling does not delete, hide, or edit-lock anything you have already created. You simply return to the Free limits for new Pro actions.
Qur’an content and intellectual property
The Qur’anic text is provided in verified Uthmani script, with the Saheeh International translation and word-by-word study data bundled in the app. Reviewed translations, tafsir, and recitation available online are provided through licensed sources and shown with their citations; scholarly content is never machine-translated. This licensed content remains the property of its respective rights holders and is provided for personal study.
The app itself, its software, design, and branding, is owned by Northstar Engineering Limited and protected by law. You may use it for personal, non-commercial study. You may not copy, resell, reverse-engineer, or attempt to extract the app’s bundled content or code except as permitted by law.
Your content stays yours. The notebooks, notes, and annotations you create belong to you. We claim no ownership of them. If you enable cloud sync or collaboration, you grant us only the limited permission needed to store and transmit that content to provide those features to you and the people you invite.
Collaboration
Collaboration is invite-only. If you share a notebook, you are responsible for who you invite and the role you assign them. Invitations are bound to an email address and expire after a set period. Content you publish to collaborators becomes visible to them for as long as they have access.
Acceptable use
Please use Ayah Ink respectfully and lawfully. Do not use it to break the law, to infringe others’ rights, to disrupt or probe the service or its infrastructure, or to misuse the licensed scripture content beyond personal study.
Disclaimers
The app is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. While we take care with the accuracy of scripture and scholarly content, the app is a study tool and is not a substitute for guidance from qualified scholars. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Northstar Engineering Limited will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for loss of data, arising from your use of the app. Because your study is local-first, we strongly encourage you to keep your own backups. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
Termination
You may stop using the app at any time and remove it from your device. We may suspend or end access if these Terms are seriously or repeatedly breached. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination, such as intellectual property, disclaimers, and limitation of liability, will continue to apply.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the app evolves. When we make a material change, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, note it in the app. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Mauritius, and the courts of Mauritius have jurisdiction over any dispute, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protections available to you where you live.
